Don't Quit

This kind of wisdom can be applied to most things we have to do in life from educational studies to capturing that trophy in a team sport. And, it applies to life and death situations as well.

Take for example those heart, pounding stories you read about every now and again about the tremendous demonstration of not quitting when your life or someone else's life depended on your actions. Just recently, a story about a plane crash where endurance prevailed over tremendous odds to survive the cold was told on the evening news.

But, you don't have to be in a plane crash in the frigid north to learn the valuable lesson of not quitting. This lesson, although distant for some, is one that most of us learned without even knowing it. Unfortunately, as we grew into adult life, pressures that we have either created ourselves, or have let others create for us have clouded this lesson. An example is obvious for most of us when faced with the opportunity to get advanced to a higher position in our work environment but are told that we don't have enough experience, or we lack some attribute, or lack some specialized training.

How easy it is just to say that fate dictated that we were not meant to advance; that our destiny was to suffer the same old job for the same old pay for years to come? The answer is, very easy to do. It's so darn easy, in fact, that countless numbers of people use this excuse year after year. Have you used this excuse?

It's not a matter of fate; it's really a matter of desire and the perseverance within. If you are not able to attain that promotion you want because of education, then set your goal - enrol in courses that will give you the credentials you need; if you are missing a certain skill in demand, ask for help from your superior, or advice from someone possessing this skill in order to find out how to acquire it - then set your goals accordingly.
