Passionate DesireSome people thin k that just because they set their goals with internal desire at it's peak that they will succeed. Well, the problem is that unless this is an absolutely burning desire, it may not be strong enough to carry you through. |

This resource page is about intensity, or, in other words, it is about a passion that supersedes all others. If you are working on a goal right now, at this very moment, you may find that your goal seems to be further away now than when you started. The first thing you will want to do at this point is to examine the real intensity of the passion you have to reach your goal. The possibility here is that your desire is not strong enough, and this means, that your passion doesn't excite you each waking moment; a passionate desire keeps you working on your goal no matter how tired you are, or how much you want to go out to socialize, or how many in vitiations you have to go to a show, movie or event. In order for this desire, this passion to be your ultimate driving force, it has to be constant. In other words, it has to be on your mind all the time not just a fleeting thought that crosses your mind once in a while. If this so called passion only appears when you are again desperate to reach your goal because your work or situation has become unbearable, you've missed the boat. In this case, your passion may be no more motivating than those New Year's eve resolutions that sound good, and may be worth doing, but are soon forgotten. You need to keep thinking about what you want or desire on an never-ending basis so that you have a continuous picture of your final goal in your mind. This picture must be vivid, must be able to be seen in every detail when you close your eyes, when you are falling asleep so that it dominates all other thoughts. By keeping this vision at the forefront, you will be able to squash other thoughts that can be distracting like doing something for fun when you should be working on your goal, or preventing you from procrastinating by doing something that doesn't need your immediate attention like cleaning your car or home. You can't accomplish anything when you allow distractions to get in your road and these distractions are always present. The only recourse to allowing other situations to dominate is to really have a never-ending passion or desire that dominates your mind on a continuous basis. Nothing else will carry you forward. |
