Reduce Resistance

It doesn't matter who you are, you need to utilize a number of simple tools to help accomplish your gaols. It also isn't enough just to write down your goals, nor is it enough to produce a detailed action plan.

One of the main stumbling blocks to reaching goals is obstacles or problems you encounter along the way. So many people think that by simply setting goals even when coupled with burning desire that everything will move along as detailed in your action plan. But, what about those obstacles you may face?

What you need to do before you start on your action plan is to sit down and write a detailed list of what obstacles you may have to deal with. This list should catalogue items that you may not think important but could pose a problem.

For example, are there people who will either consciously or unconsciously, try to discourage you?

Are there physical limitations, are their financial issues, are there time constraints, or job related factors?

Are there issues about attending classes, if this is part of your plan, or are there issues where your physical location prevents you from getting help that you may need along the way?

For each of these obstacles that you have listed, you need to sit down and thoroughly analyze each one. You need to develop a plan to handle these obstacles or ways to circumvent the issue if possible, or to reduce their impact or significance.

At this time, you should also think about other people who could assist you in either eliminating an obstacle, or help you move beyond it. For example, if you live in a city that does not give you immediate access to what you need, do you know someone who lives where you need to be and who could possibly offer you a room for short stays?

Can you find people who have done exactly what you want to do and ask for their guidance, or how they overcame issues?

If you take the time and energy to analyze those potential obstacles, or identify resources that can help you before you start, you may just find that when an issue arises, you will already have a way around it, or be prepared in knowing that at least you have a plan to overcome the issue.
